Pollinator Meadow (Colby Farm Lane)

In late 2021, we were approached by the Conservation Commission of Newburyport to partner with them to convert the Colby Farm Lane hayfield into a native plant pollinator meadow.

Location:
Newburyport, MA

Beyond individual gardens, Pollinator PowerWorks is working on a much larger scale to restore pollinator habitats.

In partnership with the Newburyport Conservation Commission, the group is transforming a large hayfield at Colby Farm Lane into a thriving pollinator meadow. Currently, 13,000 square feet of the meadow is in various stages of growth—with some sections in their first, second, and third year of development. An additional 4,000 square feet is currently tarped as part of the preparation for future seeding. By gradually restoring the land with native plant species, this project is creating a vital sanctuary for bees, butterflies, and other pollinators that are essential to the ecosystem.
